Milton Abbey School's annual Prep School Cross Country competition took place on Tuesday 20th February on a gloriously sunny winter's afternoon with the Abbey providing a stunning backdrop for the many youngsters taking part from nine local Prep Schools.

Following receipt of several generous donations from current and former parents, the School will be refurbishing the Tuck Shop to provide an enhanced facility for both the benefit of pupils and visitors.

Many of you will know of the Toby Mann Fund, set up by Toby’s parents following the tragic death of their son during his gap year in 2004.

Head Boy Ralph capped off a remarkable cross country season at Canford School on Thursday when he was presented with the trophy for the Dorset Independent Schools' Cross Country Champion beating the best athletes from local rivals including Bryanston, Sherborne, Clayesmore and Canford.

On Friday 2 February our Lower Sixth had the opportunity to hear from four former pupils and a special guest, who were able to pass on their experience of working successfully in a wide range of different careers, during a Careers ' Speed-Dating' session.

Last Friday Milton Abbey hosted our annual Prep School Debating Competition with ten schools attending including Forres Sandle Manor, Sandroyd, Hanford, Castle Court, Dumpton, Farleigh, Knighton House, Salisbury Cathedral and Sherborne Prep.

Their aim was to encourage Middle Sixth Form pupils intending to take a gap year to use their time in a constructive and purposeful way.

Head chefs from Franco Manca, the sourdough pizza restaurant chain with 34 pizzerias in London and southern England, descended en masse to Milton Abbey School on Wednesday, lured by tales of our delicious wild garlic.

Milton Abbey School is fortunate enough to be one of a small number of schools which runs its own pheasant shoot.
